Valle del Carrileufu Lodge

Cholila and Los Alerces National Park • Argentine Patagonia

El Encuentro has a long and special relationship with the Valle del Carrileufu Lodge, which is why we are thrilled to share its warmth and ideal location with our guests.

Depending on the season, and/or your preferences for fishing and places to experience, a stay at Valle del Carrileufu Lodge fits perfectly into our standard 7-night itinerary combined with a visit to either the El Encuentro Lodge or Brook Trout Base Camp. Or, you could choose to incorporate all three of these amazing properties into a great 10-night itinerary. And your El Encuentro guide will be with you for your whole stay.

This small, intimate lodge offers a true taste of authentic Patagonia, with its inviting common room with a large fireplace, local tapestries, and 6 bedrooms with private bath. Very importantly, the experience staying here offers the same high standards that we set for customer service that you enjoy with El Encuentro. Warm, caring, and gracious, Debora Finkelstein and her staff are an extension of the El Encuentro family, and we know you will feel right at home with their comfortable accommodations and excellent cuisine.

The Fishing at Valle del Carrileufu Lodge

The Lodge is situated close to the historic and fabulous river fisheries such as the Rivadavia, Arrayanes, Carrileufu, and Chubut, as well as several spring creeks and productive lakes. Our guides have fished these waters for many years. Their experience with these fisheries is second to none.

El Encuentro believes the fishing is best in the early and late seasons in these productive waters. November and December bring ideal water conditions for dry fly fishing with plentiful hatches of mayflies, caddis flies, and dragonflies. Late February and March also bring awesome fishing, as water temperatures cool and big fish move around before winter sets in. Furthermore, these early and late seasons mean the summer crowds of tourists are not haunting the rivers, lakes, and roadways. Located adjacent to Los Alerces National Park, the Lodge also offers ideal opportunities for hiking and exploring the Park.

“The Carrileufu area is stunningly beautiful, and this lodge is an ideal home base to hang out at after a great day on the water.”
