Juan “Juanchi” Zalazar was born and raised in Trevelin, Chubut. He loves spending time outdoors with his family and enjoys biking around the beautiful landscapes of Patagonia.

He has been guiding for El Encuentro Fly Fishing for the past three seasons, after working two additional seasons guiding for golden dorado in Bolivia. Juanchi’s favorite time of year at El Encuentro is during the dragonfly hatch in December, when big trout rise to take large dry flies—a truly exciting experience.

His preferred season runs from December to February, and he also has a great passion for spey casting.
