Estancia de los Rios

Estancia de los Rios

Coyhaique Area, Chile
Patagonia

For those who are looking to fully immerse themselves in authentic Patagonia and experience an unparalleled adventure combining the very best of Chilean and Argentine fly fishing, we are pleased to offer a combination package with our dear friends at Estancia de los Rios.

Family and Legacy are important to both El Encuentro and to Estancia de los Rios. The Dufflocq and Beale families share the core values of building personal relationships, customer service and the art of fly fishing. Both of our families opened the first fishing lodges in our respective areas of Patagonia.

Combining these seasoned operations allows our friends to enjoy a one-of-a kind Patagonia fly fishing adventure, experiencing a diversity of vast landscapes, lodges, and fishing situations, in two different countries, all within one seamless itinerary.

More Information

Estancia de los Ríos is a remarkable 360,000 acre estancia with more than 60 miles of private rivers, spring creeks, and lagoons on the vast eastern slope of the Andes in Chilean Patagonia. It is a remote, secluded dry fly angler’s paradise.

Guests are treated to the same warm, welcoming service that we pride ourselves in at El Encuentro Fly Fishing. The main lodge at Estancia de los Rios hosts up to 12 anglers in extraordinary style and comfort with 6 double rooms and private baths. Splendid Chilean cuisine is served in the timber-framed dining room, and traditional pisco sours are served fresh on the veranda with views of the rugged Chilean Andes.

Itineraries combining El Encuentro Fly Fishing and Estancia de los Ríos typically begin in Santiago, Chile and end in Buenos Aires, Argentina with guests spending 7 days at each operation. Estancia de los Rios is conveniently located several miles from the Argentine border making it easy to transfer to the Brook Trout Base Camp.

The journey from Estancia to El Encuentro's Brook Trout Base Camp is a unique adventure in itself with a “frontier” border crossing and back roads travel in the company of your guides. Ending the journey and getting to fish the Rio Corcovado at BTBC (itself unique) adds great cachet to an already extraordinary day! Where else could you have such a combination of places, people, and experiences?

“We love being able to explore Patagonia for more than one week and experience two different countries!! Getting a glimpse of Chilean Patagonia as well as Argentine Patagonia and its landscapes from the coastal rainforest to the high open country on the eastern slope of the Andes, different lodges, fishing waters and guides each with different customs! All within a half day of each other, but different worlds in many ways. “
